Added: 08.10.2014 3:12 | 6 views | 0 comments
VRFocus - The stealth videogame genre has so far only seen a handful of virtual reality (VR) compatible projects. The genre has great potential for VR adaptions thanks to the positional tracking technology found in the likes of the Oculus Rift head-mounted displays (HMD) second development kit (DK2). Indie developer TiGer36 is looking to be one of the first to captitalise on that potential with the release of a new demo for his VR videogame, Project: Stealth.

| Dream Dev: Lack of Oculus DK2 Support for UDK 'very, very frustrating'
Added: 07.10.2014 23:12 | 54 views | 0 comments
VRFocus - Fans that are closely following the development of HyperSloth Games Dream know that, for the most part, development is progressing well. The title is currently on Steams Early Access service and heading towards a full launch hopefully later in the year. One area where the team has hit a wall however is with Dreams virtual reality (VR) support. The title already supports the Oculus Rift head-mounted displays (HMD) first development kit (DK1), but issues with Epic Games Unreal Development Kit are currently preventing support for the second kit (DK2).

| VR vs. Activision
Added: 07.10.2014 20:12 | 6 views | 0 comments
VRFocus - With a recent history of annualised releases, toy-based videogames and adaptations of movies, you might think publishing giant Activision wouldnt take a chance on a technology as risky as virtual reality (VR). But dig a little deeper into that history and theres reassuring evidence that the company may well lend support to the likes of the Oculus Rift and Project Morpheus head-mounted displays (HMD) whenever theyre finally made available. And with some of the industrys biggest franchises falling under its publishing line, it would certainly be exciting to see it get involved in VR.

VRFocus - The development of upcoming horror title Nevermind has been one of the most interesting stories to follow throughout 2014. Having failed to reach Kickstarter funding earlier in the year developer Erin Reynolds and her team reassured that development of the unique title would continue. The following June it was revealed that a new partnership with Intel would provide basic funding for the experience, although support for the Oculus Rift virtual reality (VR) head-mounted display (HMD) couldn't be confirmed. Now the developer has revealed that it will be launching a new crowd-funding campaign to secure VR support and more.

RN24: "Today in the most unsurprising non-news possibly ever: Yes, Japan is working on yet another creepy virtual reality game where you interact in new, sleazy ways with a possibly underage girl.
This time, the new program in question is an Oculus Rift (the newer DK2, of course) game where the goal is to blow into a microphone and upturn virtual reality hottie Hatsune Mikus skirt with your comically powerful virtual breath."

| Preview: Alien: Isolation on Oculus Rift [VRFocus]
Added: 03.10.2014 5:12 | 0 views | 0 comments
VRFocus - In 1979 audiences were terrified by a man in a latex suit. That man was Bolaji Badejo and that suit was the now-unmistakable Xenomorph, a grotesque, deadly creature that went on to become the star of 1979s Alien. Its now 2014 and, just like rubber sharks, Badejo in a latex suit doesnt prove quite as scary any more. In fact, it takes a lot more to disturb the modern, desensitised audience. So how does a franchise such as Alien stay relevant? By adapting, evolving and continuing to offer new ways to bring that classic horror to a more demanding audience. Its been a bumpy road for the series of late but, with Alien: Isolation and its prototype Oculus Rift support, it might have just 2014s equivalent of the latex suit.
